Jim Krieg Interview, Wicked, Arcane
This holiday season is already a bust! Lets move on to the new year already.
But if you’re here, then I’ve got some cool updates for you! Like a new logo! My partner Zahra was kind enough to create a logo for Bitchin About Nothin. So that has gone up now for all to see, but here is the closeup if anyone is interested.
I don’t have any updates on the pieces that I’m working on, but I do have a very cool interview to share with you all! It’s my first video interview for Atomic Geekdom. Then it’s just the usual stuff, but at the very bottom are the first five pieces from 2022. I doubt I’ll finish uploading everything before the end of the year, but I’m gonna try.
ATOMIC GEEKDOM | JAMES KRIEG INTERVIEW
So this is something I’ve been very excited to share with you all! It dropped on monday, so you’ve likely already seen it, but if you haven’t then please check it out!
As I’ve mentioned, I’m a fan of the most recent DC animated universe called the Tomorrowverse, and I was lucky enough to tell that to it’s creator, Jim Krieg, at LA Comic Con. He graciously agreed to an interview, and Atomic Geekdom let me do it for them!
I was happy to do more for the site I’ve been writing for, but most importantly happy that I got to chat with Jim and ask him all my burning questions! I hope you guys enjoy watching this really cool interview!
What Am I Working On?
Pretty much the same as last week.
Weekly Roundup
Wicked
I saw the play a very long time ago. Way over a decade ago. I didn’t like it very much and then the film version was coming out, and I didn’t think it looked very good. But I LOVED the movie. The cast was wonderful and the music popped.
Genuinly might be one of my favorite movies of the year.
Arcane
I loved the first season of Arcane, genuinly one of my favorite shows. But I’m not sure I can say that about the second season. The animation continues to be some of the most incredible animation I’ve ever seen. The way their willing to play with all sorts of different animation techniques is so cool. Almost every frame blows me away. Also want to shout out the sound effects this season.
But animation can only get you so far. At the end of the day, the story has to be there. So as a fan of sapphic storytelling, I’m a big fan of some of the moves that was made here. Hell, I think that Vi and Jinx both had solid character arcs.
But, I also feel like the story is two season wrapped in one. I wonder if Riot Games felt like audiences wouldn’t stay invested if they pushed the story to three seasons. Considering how long the show takes to make, that wouldn’t surprise me. But there motivations and character arcs that don’t make sense or are very rushed. It felt like they were more concerned with thematic storytelling rather then character storytelling.
But, like I said, I liked Jinx and Vi’s story. I may not like how it wrapped up, and it felt like the story was pushing them, rather them pushing the story, but I think they came out the strongest.
Dimension 20: Misfits & Magic 2
I wasn’t in love with the first season of Misfits & Magic, but I did find it very funny. This season had some big laughs, but was also very dramatic. It’s not a bad thing, but I did find my interest weign a few times because of the story. I think it was an interesting breakdown of the Hary Potter centered season that the first one was, but I just don’t really find the game mechanics very interesting and that’s really holding me back.
Overall, it was pretty good, but probably my least favorite Dimension 20 season of the year.

Here’s the first five pieces from 2022. I’ve also begun to publish the stuff from 2023, but I think 2022 has some of my very best work. So I hope you’ll check them out.
